Crystal Ann Mattix

Funeral services, celebrating the life of Crystal Ann Mattix, 61, of Thornville, will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, June 9th, 2023 with visitation immediately preceding the services from 4-6 p.m. at the Mount Perry Presbyterian Church. Inurnment will follow at a later date in the Mt. Perry Cemetery.

Crystal passed away Monday, June 5, 2023, in Columbus following a brief illness. She was born in Punxsutawney, PA, the daughter of the later Walter M. and Vernie E. (Brewer) Richards. Crystal was a graduate of Mt. Gilead H.S., class of 1980, and worked for the TC Market in Thornville where she was well known as the “Candy Lady”. She also shared selflessly with others and helped whenever she could.

She was a member of the Mt. Perry Presbyterian Church, the Irene Mae Women’s Missionary Society, and founded the Mt Perry Clothes Closet. She also assisted at local food banks. She was a 4-H advisor for many years.

She is survived by her loving family: her daughters Rae Lynn (Brian) Denny, Clorissa (David Byrd) Ardrey, Ashley Shea (Adam) McGomery; grandchildren Gage, Levi, Colt, Aden, Ashton, Avery, Jacob, Paizley, Brantley, Kallie and Maddie; her brothers Ronald (Barbara) Richards, Roger (Kathy) Richards, Larry Richards; her sister Shirley Fissell, Cookie (Bob) Armstrong, brother-in-law Robbie (Sherry) Mattix; neighbors Ricky and Becky Ogle and her church family at Mt. Perry Presbyterian.

Together again, She was preceded in death by her loving husband Roger Glenn Mattix. Crystal cared selflessly for him for many years, until he went to be with the Lord on May 20, 2023.

The family prefers that memorials’ in Crystal’s memory be used to “pay it forward” and that they will use the collected donations to further her memory doing good deeds. Envelopes will be available at the church.
