A memorial service for Curtis B. Greene, age 58, of Newark, fondly known by some as Buffalo Soldier and T-Bone, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, at 409 Eastern Avenue, Newark. Refreshments will follow until 5 p.m.Curtis passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2014 in Newark. Born December 12, 1955 in Valdosta, Georgia, he was the son of the late Henry Greene, Sr. and Irene (Golden) Greene.Curtis served in the United States Army from September 3, 1974 to February 4, 1977. He had been a corrections officer at the Marion Correctional Institution and had also been self-employed in landscaping. Curtis enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, helping others, playing Chess and was a collector. He was also a Mason.He is survived by a son, Marcus Greene, and a daughter, Tyanne Williams, both of Newark; grandchildren, Chase, Chance, Adashia, Tyler, Maya, Mia, Mariah and Bryce; siblings, Henry Greene, Jr. of Sandusky, Lindsey Greene of Reedsville, Walter Greene, Sr., Gregory Greene, Cecil Greene and Cassandra (Gregory) Williams, all of Newark, Jerlene Greene of Sugar Hill, Georgia; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Christopher J. Jones; a brother, Michael C. Greene, Sr.; and a sister, Deborah S. Greene.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home is honored to care for the Greene family.
