Cynthia L. Walker

A private graveside service for Cynthia L. Cindy Walker, age 67, of Newark, will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville.Cynthia was born in Toledo, Ohio on September 6, 1948 to the late Edward E. and Lucille (Erfurth) Walker. She passed away on February 20, 2016 at Flint Ridge Nursing and Rehab Center in Newark.Cindy graduated from Newark High School, Class of 1966. She received her Bachelors Degree from Denison University, her Masters and Doctorates Degrees from Purdue University. She taught at George Washington University in Washington DC, retiring from the University of Alaska, after 20 years of service, as an English Professor. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Granville Chapter. She enjoyed flower gardening and spending time with her family.Survivors include her sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Don Pheneger of Granville; nephews, Donald Dean (Alison) Pheneger of Midlothian, VA and Douglas Edward (Beth) Pheneger of Newark; and several cousins.Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Cindy to Generation Hospice, 1435A West Main Street, Newark, Ohio 43055.The family would like to thank Lori and Jodi, with Generation Hospice; and Elizabeth with Flint Ridge, for all of the loving care provided to Cindy.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service is honored to care for Cindy and her family.
