Dain Chandler Mccomb

A funeral service, celebrating the life of Dain Chandler McComb, age 102, of Thornville, will be on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Good Hope Lutheran Church, 14767 Sand Rock Road, Glenford, with Pastor Marjorie McDaniel-Burnette officiating.Burial will follow at Poplar Forks Cemetery.Dain was born in Sheldon, Ohio on June 24, 1913 to the late Kenyon Skinner and Etta (Tingley) McComb.He passed away at his residence on April 15, 2016.Dain proudly served his country in the United States National Guard.Prior to retirement, he worked for Rockwell International for 27 years. He was a lifelong member of the Good Hope Lutheran Church in Glenford, and was a member of Glenford Grange and Glenford Lions Club. He enjoyed tinkering, wood working, metal working, farming and raising trout.He was a good, hard working man who loved his family dearly.Survivors include his children, Vivian Westerfelt, Harry B. (Erma) McComb, Ronald R. McComb, Dan L. (Linda) McComb, George E. McComb, Diane J. Houston, Melvin R. (Becky) McComb and John L. (Noopian) McComb; 31 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Verla F. (Orr) McComb in 1986; son, Larry McComb; great grandson, Bill Westerfelt; brothers, Leo and Otho; and sisters, Doris, Pauline and Mildred.Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Dain to Good Hope Lutheran Church.Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.Dain enjoyed amazingly good health throughout his life and was lovingly cared for in his final days by Cathy and Terry Graves and Doug Davis.Family will receive friends at the funeral home, 56 S.
