Dale "Dj" Thorpe, Jr.

A funeral service, celebrating the life of Dale R. DJ Thorpe, Jr., 27, of Thornville, will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Thornville home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service with Pastor Beth Bateson officiating. Burial will follow at New Lexington Cemetery.Dale was born in Columbus on July 14, 1988 to Dale R. and April (Hammer) Thorpe, Sr. He passed away at his residence on November 1, 2015.Dale graduated in 2007 from Sheridan High School, where he wrestled and played football. He worked for the John K. Loehner Construction Company and was a member of the Laborers Local #423 Union. He was passionate about power lifting and was a proud member of Iron Forged Gym in Zanesville and Lexen Powerlifting Gym in Grove City. Dale participated in many lifting competitions. He enjoyed playing fantasy football, had a great sense of humor and he loved to make people laugh. Most important in his life was spending time with his family and friends, and he will be missed by everyone that knew him.In addition to his parents, survivors include one brother, Logan Thorpe; maternal grandmother, Arlene Hammer; paternal grandmother, Manzella Thorpe; aunts, Janie (Ronnie) Winegardner and Vicky Narm; uncles, Danny (Paula) Hammer, Kevin Thorpe, Bart (Mary) Thorpe, Ronnie (Lisa) Thorpe, Dino Thorpe and Craig (Beth) Thorpe; and numerous cousins and dear friends.He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Donald Hammer; paternal grandfather, Donald Thorpe; and maternal great grandmother, Jessie BoBo Tivner.The family will receive friends at the funeral home, 56 S. Main St., Thornville, on Friday from 2:00 to 8:00 pm.Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service is honored to care for Dale and the Thorpe family.
