Dale Mark McManus

A funeral service celebrating the life of Dale Mark McManus, age 82, of Lancaster, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 20, at First United Methodist Church, 163 East Wheeling Street in Lancaster with Rev. Kathleen Kisner officiating. Burial will take place in Kirkersville Cemetery where Military Honors will be observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, at the Kirkersville Chapel of Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service, 285 East Main Street in Kirkersville where the Carroll Lions Club will observe a service. The family will also receive friends at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. prior to the service.

Dale was born July 19, 1942 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Robert and Alicemae (Shimonek) McManus. He passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at Riverside Methodist Hospital.

Dale was a veteran of the United States Navy and faithfully served his country during Vietnam. He retired from IBM after 30 years of employment where he was a Technical Engineer. A religious man, Dale was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lancaster. He was also a member of the Carroll Lions Club where he served since 1977. As a life-member, he held various offices within the club. He was also a volunteer with the Fairfield County Board of Elections. An avid sportsman, Dale also enjoyed spending time in the outdoors.

A devoted family man who was so loved, Dale is survived by his wife, Emeline “Emmy” Dillon McManus, whom he married February 17, 2024; children, Julie (Richard) Van Meter, Rodney “Buzz” (Stephanie) McManus, and Rob (Melinda) McManus; grandchildren, Bryan Barnes, Emily (Phillip) Russell, Haydn (Taylor) McManus, Cody (Michelle) McManus, Tyler (Natalie) McManus, and Alexander Van Meter; two great-grandchildren, Hadley McManus and Meyers McManus; sons of his wife Emmy, Robert “Rob” (Karla) Dillon and Christopher “Chris” (Laura) Dillon; brothers, Gene (Dixie) McManus and Chris McManus; sisters, Linda (Fred) Gassmann, Therese McManus, and Joy Harris; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his family, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Marleen Kay (Hendershot) McManus on November 1, 2021; and by a brother, Richard Scott McManus.
