Daniel H. Lucas

Daniel H. Lucas, 79, of Millersport, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2024 in Lancaster. Dan was born June 29, 1944 in Vancouver, Washington the son of the late Sylvester Howard and Lydia (Schierman) Lucas. Dan served honorably in the US Navy for 4 years during the Vietnam era, and then worked for 29 years for the US Government at the Department of Defense where he was a telecommunications specialist. Dan enjoyed camping in the RV, fishing and mowing grass. He also loved to fix stuff and show others how to fix stuff; make bird houses and feeders, feed the wild birds. He was a loyal husband and an amazing father and grandfather. His many adoptive furbabies were loyal to him as well. Dan is survived by his loving family: his wife of 57 years, Carol (Carpenter) Lucas, whom he married on August 5, 1967; his son Keith (Michelle) Lucas of Obetz; his daughter Amber (Megan) Lucas of Lancaster; along with his granddaughters Lydia and Elizabeth; and his sister Heather Hartford of Gaston, Oregon. The family will receive friends on Friday evening, February 9, 2024 from 6-8 pm at the Thornville home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service, 56 S Main in Thornville, and graveside funeral services will follow at 10:30 am, Saturday, February 10, 2024 in the Millersport Cemetery, with full military honors.
