A funeral service, celebrating the life of Daniel O Connor, 86, of Thornville, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 13, 2016, in the chapel of the Thornville home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service. Private burial will follow in the Beckett Cemetery in Pickaway County. Dan died late Monday afternoon in the Pickering House in Lancaster following a brief illness. He was born in Columbus on March 14, 1930, the son of the late Daniel Webster and Edith (Morgan) O Connor. He was retired from the Caine Corporation in Hebron after many years of service. He was a member of the Buckeye Lake Eagles and a former long-time member of the Buckeye Lake Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He is survived by his loving family: wife Ruth, whom he married on August 4, 1950, his children, Sandra (Edward) Bosak, Sharon Emery and Dan (Pam) O Connor; his 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Floyd and Orin Jones. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 12, 2016, from 6-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home, 56 South Main St. in Thornville. The family prefers that memorials be directed to the Ohio Lions Eye Research Foundation, c/o P.D.G. Ed Otte, 2625 East Park St., Millersport, Ohio 43046 in his memory.
