Danny E. Barker, Sr.

A funeral service celebrating the life of Danny E. Barker, Sr., age 68, of Newark, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 19, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Hanover Cemetery.Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Monday, June 18, at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark. Danny was born September 9, 1949 in Newark, Ohio to the late Charles and Helen (Harper) Barker. He passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Mount Carmel East Hospital. Danny retired from the Licking County Highway Department where he had been a truck driver. Following retirement, he was employed with Watson Construction where he had also been a truck driver. He attended Community Wesleyan Church and was a member of the Druids, Newark Eagles and American Legion Post #85. Danny enjoyed playing guitar and drums and had played at Eagles Nest Tabernacle for several years. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles and tinkering in his garage. He is survived by his fiance, Kristy M. (Castle) Sayre; daughter, Tammy (Ernie) White of Nashport; sons, Danny, Jr. (Tiffany) Barker of Hanover, Samuel (Marilyn) Allen and Michael Allen, all of Newark; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Galiher of Heath; brother, Robert Barker of Virginia; several nieces and nephews; special family members, Amanda Halblaub (Charles Sheley), Savanna Halblaub, Kayla Emory, Madison Fowler and Thomas Castle; and his beloved dog and cat, Smoky and Snowy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Barker; daughter, Dannel Barker; sister, Betty Shrieves; and a brother, Harry Tingler.
