Danny Francis Holman

Danny Francis Holman, age 71, of Newark, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 14, 2025 at Licking Memorial Hospital. Danny was born April 4, 1953 in Newark, Ohio to the late Richard Lee and Betty Jane (Catlin) Holman.

Danny, a Newark High School graduate, dedicated over 50 years of his life to the Trout Club in Newark as a groundskeeper. Known for his love of animals and his unbeatable sense of adventure in thrift shopping, Danny had a keen eye for spotting a great deal. His zest for life and upbeat personality meant he never met a stranger – every encounter was a chance to make a new friend. As a proud member of the Inner City Dart League, Danny enjoyed camaraderie and competition. Danny's love of ice cream was unparalleled; he was especially proud of his unprecedented 12-year streak as the first-place winner in the ice cream eating contest at the Velvet Ice Cream Festival in Utica.

True to his generous spirit, Danny gave the ultimate gift of love and compassion as a tissue donor through Lifeline of Ohio, ensuring his legacy continues through helping others.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, and especially by his family which includes his significant other, Sandy Warner; sister, Connie (Holman) Luther; brother, Robert Holman; nephew, Richie (Shannon) Luther; niece, Flossie Luther; nephew, Chris (Cindy) Holman and their two boys; great nephew, Tanner “The Boy” (Victoria) Dyer; great-niece, Kiah Smith; great-great-nephew, Paten Smith; great-great-niece, Violet Heim; and many dear friends including lifelong friend, Kelly Emler.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annabelle (Cotterman) Holman; brother-in-law, Bryan “Frog” Luther; sister-in-law, Anna Belle Holman; and several aunt and uncles.

The family will observe a celebration of Danny’s life from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, at Townz Family Billiards, 50 North 11th Street in Newark.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Danny's memory can be made to the Licking County Humane Society, reflecting his love of animals and commitment to their well-being.
