Darlene "Duck" M. Shell

Darlene M. “Duck” Shell, 80, of Newark, died Sunday, August 14, 2022, at the Laurels of Heath. She was born September 4, 1941, in Lancaster to the late Raymond and Vivian (Shafer) Shell. Duck was an avid bowler. She bowled in several leagues and traveled all over to bowling tournaments. She was a frequent visitor to the Heath Eagles and even had her own special parking spot and barstool. She was the “Boss” and was always in charge. Duck enjoyed camping and traveling in her motor home and especially looked forward to her vacations to Vegas. She also Enjoyed spending time with her fur baby Chiquita. She was known as “Auntie Em” to her great nieces and nephews, and she was always on the lookout for eagle and duck decor. She is survived by nieces and nephews, Sharry Baker, Raymond (Sam) Howard, James (Susan) Howard, Debra Howard, James (Tonya) Shell, and Jamie (Travis) William; several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister, Shirley Howard; brother, James Shell; niece, Diana Reed; significant other, Paul Winters; two great-great nieces; and one great-great nephew. Memorial contributions may be made in Duck’s memory to, Kindred Hospice, 540 Officenter Place, Gahanna, OH 43230. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 25, 2022, from 11am-12:45pm at the Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home where the Heath Eagles services will begin at 12:45pm followed by the funeral service at 1:00pm with Chaplain Dennis Barnhart officiating. Burial will follow the service at Wilson Cemetery. Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service is honored to care for Duck and her family.
