Darrell Eugene Brown, passed away peacefully in his home on February 9th, 2023 at the age of 70, surrounded by loved ones. Born February 7th, 1953 in Newark, Ohio to Wesley Eugene and Zelma May (Hupp) Brown. Darrell spent his entire life in Perry County, built a beautiful home for his family and worked endlessly to provide for those he loved. He proudly served over 20 years as Thornville’s Water and Sewage Superintendent and held the preservation of the village of Thornville in very high regard. He selflessly and quietly served his community and those who lived in it. His countless contributions and hard work can be admired in many of the village buildings, sidewalks, and in many people’s homes throughout its reach. He loved being outdoors, in nature. His true passion was for the sport of fishing. If he wasn’t building something or cutting wood, you could find him on the lake with a monster bass on the line and a grin from ear to ear! He preached the value of a simple life, one you worked hard for and at the end of the day could be proud of. Darrell lived his life his way… on his terms, full of kindness, full of love, and prioritized his family above all else. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Debra; two daughters, Kendall (Carl “K.C.”) Brown-Clovis and Autumn (Eric) McKillips; cherished grandchildren, Kyen and Lyza; his mother, Zelma Brown; his brother and best friend, Dwight (Mary) Brown; sisters, Cynthia Mathews, Claudia Brown, Cheryl (Andy) Verba, Cathy (Wayne) Jenkins; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, dear friends, Jason Foltz, Greg Goebel, Ron Koehler; and countless buddies from the morning “business meeting” group, as well as his former wife, Patti (Jon) Ridenour. He was preceded in death by his father, Wesley Brown; and sister, Christina (Alan) Underwood, and brother-in-law, Jeff Mathews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Genesis Health Care for their care and support of Darrell and his family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Sheridan Athletic Boosters or Zanesville’s Genesis HealthCare Cancer Foundation in Darrell's memory. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday February 18th, 2023 at South Shore Ministries in Thornville. Greetings will begin at 2:00pm with reading of memorial sentiments starting roughly at 3:00pm. Hoskinson Funeral Home in Thornville is entrusted with the arrangements.
