David Lee Helton

A memorial service celebrating the life of David Lee Helton, age 42, of Newark, will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 15, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street, Newark. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.David was born May 13, 1972 in Ashtabula, Ohio. He passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at his home following a courageous one year battle with cancer.David was a 1989 graduate of Heath High School and attended COTC. He was formerly employed with State Farm in New Albany where he had been a quality control reviewer for the life resource center. He had also been employed with Park National Bank in Heath where he had been assistant branch manager and began his work career at Meijers.David enjoyed playing video games and chess and loved to travel. He was a talented artist and enjoyed drawing.He is survived by his mother, Sharon K. (Greenlief) Helton; sister, Christina (Dave) Jones of Heath; brother, Jim Bud Helton of Newark; his Granny, Oleta Greenlief of Ashtabula; aunts, uncles and cousins; and the girls at State Farm, whom he considered to be extended family; as well as many close friends.He was preceded in death by his father, James Helton; grandparents, Ollie and Maxine Helton and Raymond Greenlief.Memorial contributions may be made to the Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home is honored to care for the Helton family.
