A funeral service celebrating the life of Debra L. McFarland, 63, of Newark, will be held on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark, prior to the funeral service on Sunday, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Debra was born on June 21, 1955 in Richwood, West Virginia to the late Arthur and Glenna (Bales) Giles. She passed away on November 1, 2018 while visiting her daughter, while receiving treatments for pancreatic cancer, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Debra proudly served her country as an underwater welder in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. She worked at Rockwell International as a machinist for many years and was also a human resource manager for Legend Smelting and Recycling. She enjoyed traveling, hunting, camping fishing, snorkeling and spending time on the water. She had an uplifting personality, loved everyone she met and was a mother to many. She will be greatly missed by her family and everyone that knew her. Survivors include her loving husband of 28 years, Paul McFarland, whom she married August 25, 1990; children, Ja’ Mey (Ara) Graves, Wade Belcher, and Jacqueline (Ori) Isaschar; sister, Patty (Bill) Hatfield; brother, Rodney Giles, Sr.; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
