Funeral services, celebrating the life of Delbert “Del” K. Latham, 87, of Thornville, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. May 19, 2022 in the Grace Lutheran Church, Thornville, with Pastor Tom Jacobson as celebrant. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Fairmount Cemetery, Jacksontown. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, May 18th, 2022 from 6-8 p.m. at the Thornville home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service, 56 S. Main St. in Thornville, and again on Thursday morning from 10:00 am until time of funeral service at Grace Lutheran Church.

Del passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2022 in Newark following an extended illness. He was born May 18, 1934 in Hamersville, the son of the late Lee and Lily (Conaway) Latham. He served honorably in the US Army, was a graduate of the Ohio State University where he was a member of the OSU Men’s Glee Club and Chorus. A hard-working life-long farmer who also retired after 30 years at Owens Corning Fiberglas in Newark, and then 10 more years at Meijer’s.

Del loved music and was involved in many musical activities including: Grace Lutheran Church Choir and Men of Grace, Land of Legend Barbershop Chorus and Camfo Country Music. He enjoyed spending time at Zerger hall and Licking Co. Aging program. He was also an amateur pilot. Along with his wife Joy, he was a former member at the AMVETS post at Thornport, where they often ate.

Del is survived by his family: sons Paul (Edna), Mark, and James (Kristan) Latham; daughter Linda (Edward) Jones; sister Velvie Neal, 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Joy in 2009, his sisters Fleta Bustle and Ilene Stanfield and his brothers Ronald and Harry Latham.

The family prefers that memorial contributions be directed to Licking Co. Aging Program, 1058 East Main St., Newark, Ohio 43055.
