A funeral service celebrating the life of Delbert “Butch” E. Moody, age 75, of Newark, will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service with Chaplain Cheryl Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in Barnes Cemetery, with military honors observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark, on Wednesday, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Delbert was born in Newark on October 3, 1946, to the late Delbert Maywood Moody and Ruth (Davis) Moody. He passed away on April 23, 2022. Butch proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, both domestic and abroad. Prior to retirement, he worked for CSX Railroad for 30 years. He loved his country, and his family was his everything. Butch was happiest with his family, there wasn’t a selfish bone in his body, and anyone who knew Butch, knew he had a love of farming and was especially fond of pig farming. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 51 years, Connie (Casey) Moody, whom he married April 7, 1971; his children, Wendy (John) Mohler, Terri (Kelly) Ault, Nicki (Dwight) Mayabb, and Delbert (Adrienne) Moody II, all of Newark; his 14 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren; brothers-in-law, George, Jeff and Curt Casey; sister-in-law, Gladys Moody; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Joseph Moody, Freida (Moody) Sheer, Kenneth Moody, Roger Moody, Diane (Moody) Blanchette; and loving in-laws George Casey and Merris (Collart) Casey. Butch was the last survivor of his immediate family. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service is honored to care for Butch and his family.
