Denise Carol Chapman Karr

A funeral service celebrating the life of Denise Carol Chapman Karr, age 45, of Heath, will be held at 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Pastor Carol Rogers Hall officiating. Private inurnment will take place on Friday in Spring Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark.Denise was born November 23, 1970 in Newark, Ohio to the late Philip Dale and Brenda Sue (Inlow) Davis. She passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at Licking Memorial Hospital.Denise was employed with Denison University for nearly 23 years in Student Activities and Housing. She enjoyed crocheting and made many beautiful items for her family and friends including sweaters, blankets, scarves, hats and footies. An avid sports fan, Denise enjoyed volleyball and basketball. She coached her daughters basketball team and was actively involved to cheer on her kids in any sport they played. She was also a fan of the OSU Buckeyes.Denise always showed the character of putting others before herself. In her giving nature, she was a tissue donor with Lifeline of Ohio.She is survived by a daughter, Ashley K. Karr of Newark; son, W. Dylan Karr of Heath; brothers, Dale Allen (Julie) Chapman and Dustin Brian Chapman, all of Heath; father of Ashley and Dylan, N. Scott Karr of Heath; step-father, Gary L. Davis of Zanesville; step-sister, Tarey (Bill) Blaney of Hopewell; step-brother, Jon B. (Gail) Davis of Hilliard; nephews and niece, Spencer, Hunter and Sydney Chapman; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home is honored to care for Denise and her family.
