Dennis Wayne Small

A funeral service celebrating the life of Dennis Wayne “Denny” Small, age 76, of Newark, will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30, at the Hebron Chapel of Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service with Clifford Mason as celebrant. Friends may call from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home, 108 North 7 ^th Street in Hebron. Burial will follow in Lutheran Cemetery.

Dennis was born May 30, 1945 in Newark, Ohio to the late Harold Wayne and Mary (Willis) Small. He passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at his home.

Dennis was formerly employed with the Roper Corp. and Ideal Sanitation. He enjoyed scrapping and setting out a vegetable garden each year. Dennis was also very mechanically inclined and was a “Jack of all trades”. His wife, Ellen, was the love of his life and his family was very important to him.

He is survived by five children, Brenda Lynn Small of Newark, David Wayne Small of Newark, Melinda Kay Lester of Hebron, Edward Lee Small of Utica, and Theodore Lee (Paula) Small of Pickerington; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Delone Small and Steve (Bev) Small, both of Florida; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ellen Marie (Underwood) Small, on June 30, 2017; four brothers and a sister; and son-in-law, James "Philip" Lester.
