Diana Sue (Shaw) Peck Kovach

A funeral service celebrating the life of Diana Sue (Shaw) Peck Kovach, age 72, of Newark, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Wilson Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark. The Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post #85 will have a special service at 10:15 a.m.

Diana was born March 13, 1947 in Newark, Ohio. She passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center (operated by Hospice of Central Ohio). Diana drove school bus for Newark City and the North Fork Local school districts. She had also been employed at Arensberg Pharmacy for a number of years.

Diana was past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post #85 where she had been bar manager for many years. She was a former member of the Rainbow Girls. Diana enjoyed gambling, traveling, flowers, and watching the birds and other wildlife from the window of her home.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Kovach; mother, Betty Maxine (Smith) Sturm of Newark; sons, Michael E. (Jolena) Peck, Jr. of Heath, Craig A. (Sherry) Peck and Brian Lee Peck, all of Newark; step-sons, Robert Jason Kovach and Brian Kovach, both of Newark; grandchildren, Daniel Peck, Mercedes Peck, Megan Peck, L.J. Riggleman, Brevin Riggleman, Brandon Riggleman and Ashley Peck Grace; great-grandchildren, Ali, Aaron, Traylin, Maddie, Donovan, Zach, Sophia and Carter Andrew; brothers, Marcus Steven “Steve” (Terri) Sturm of Heath, Mike Sturm and Brent J. “B.J.” Sturm, both of Newark; sister, Teri Sturm of Newark; special aunt and uncle, Barbara and Joseph Kinser and aunt, Betty Pickrel; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Diana was preceded in death by her first husband, Michael E. Peck, Sr., on May 6, 1984; and by her father, Edgar Shaw, Jr.
