Dollie M. Hoy

A funeral service celebrating the life of Dollie M. Hoy, age 92, of Newark, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 1, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Newark Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark.

Dollie was born July 2, 1931 in Newark, Ohio to the late Orrin and Ethel (Downs) Jones. She passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Altercare Zanesville.

Dollie was a homemaker and mother to six children. Her family was her life and she loved taking care of them and her household. She was a fantastic cook and everything tasted wonderful, especially her potato salad.

She is survived by her children, Sharon Rissler of San Antonia, Texas, Vickie Hoy of Newark, Richard Hoy of Senecaville, James (Leann) Hoy of Warsaw, Steven (Penny) Hoy of Dresden, and Melanie “Sue” (Steve) Fadley of Nashport; 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren; sister, Juanita Garee, of Apache Junction, Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Hoy; and by five brothers, Herbert Jones, Kenneth Jones, Ralph Jones, Charles Jones, and Carl Jones.
