Donald G. Adkins

A funeral service celebrating the life of Donald G. Adkins, age 70, of Newark, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street, Newark, with Pastor Mark Falls officiating. Burial will take place in Newark Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.Donald was born November 9, 1945 in Summit Station, Ohio to the late Arthur Adkins and Jacqueline (Cambridge) Adkins-Bradford. He passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at his home.Donald retired from Holophane after many years of employment. He loved to play golf and cards with his friends and was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns. He also loved cats and dogs and they were a major part of his life; especially, Sheila, Mason, Willie, Snoopy, Trigger, Doc, Buster and Sophie.He is survived by his loving family including his brothers, David (Nancy) Adkins and Daniel (Lisa) Adkins; sisters, Darlene Schumaker and Debbie (Ron) Hare; as well as many nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Arthur Bradford; and brothers-in-law, Michael Williams and James Schumaker.Memorial contributions may be made to the Licking County Humane Society, 825 Thornwood Drive, Heath, OH 43056.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home is honored to care for Donald and his family.
