Funeral services for Donald Robert Howard, 79, of Thornville, will be held Monday, June 15, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Kirkersville home of HOSKINSON Funeral & Cremation Service. Burial with full military honors will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Columbus.Donald died peacefully on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 in Newark, following an extended illness. He was born in Columbus, on February 9, 1936. He served honorably in the US Air Force and was self-employed as a TV repairman. He enjoyed traveling, gambling, and was a licensed pilot.He is survived by his brothers and sisters: Milton Howard, William (Esther) Watkins, Toby Simons, Betty (L.D.) Rose, Shirley (Tom) Hurley, Phillip Watkins, Jack Watkins, Thomas (Dorothy) Watkins; along with many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Watkins.The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 14, 2015, from 2-5 p.m. at the funeral home, 285 E Main Street in Kirkersville.The family prefers that memorials be directed to the Wounded Warriors Project.
