A graveside service celebrating the life of Donald Lee Snyder, age 77, of Newark, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 18, at Cedar Hill Cemetery with Pastor Eric Miller officiating. Military honors will be observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. A memorial gathering will be held at the GMP Hall, 350 Hudson Avenue, Newark, following the graveside service.Donald was born January 26, 1938 in Martins Ferry, Ohio to the late Wilbur and Flora Mae (Duke) Snyder. He passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation-Newark.Donald was a veteran of the United States Air Force and retired from the Vogelmeier Company after 25 years of service where he had been a truck driver. Following his retirement, he had been employed with Salvation Army as a truck driver.Donald was a member of the Dresden American Legion Post #399 and the Newark Moose Lodge #499. He was a talented basketball player and had played basketball during his time in the Air Force. He also enjoyed golf and bowling. Donald was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and Indians and the OSU Buckeyes.He is survived by three daughters, Anita Goodin of Dresden, Lisa (Charles) Decker of Newark and Erin (Bobby) Goodman of Dresden; fourteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard Snyder of Colorado, Tom Snyder of Dayton and Jack Snyder of Corbin, Kentucky; two sisters, Jeanie Williams of Urbana and Clara Snyder of Virginia; many nieces and nephews; and long-time companion, Dorothea Anderson.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his best friend, Melva Snyder; granddaughter, Brittiney Brown; sisters, Patty, Judy Kay and Barb; and brothers, Fred, Ed and Wilbur.Memorial contributions may be made to the Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home is honored to care for Donald and his family.
