A memorial service celebrating the life of Donald R. Mohler, 70, of Thornville, will be celebrated on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at 12:00 noon, with Jack Helton as celebrant. Burial will follow the service at Floral Hills cemetery in Lancaster. Don was born on July 30, 1949 to the late Woodrow and Blanche (Truax) Mohler in Lancaster, Ohio. He passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at Kobacker House with his wife and son by his side. Don was a car guy, not just any car guy, but a Corvette car guy. He loved Corvettes, all Corvettes! He is known for his ’62 & ’92 vettes. He wanted a yellow vette with a red interior, but that would have been known as the McDonald vette, the family wasn’t so sure about that prospect. He loved drag racing his ’69 GTO, (yes, it’s not a vette, but it’s still fun). He also loved motorcycles, he had 19. And he enjoyed boating on Buckeye Lake. Needless to say, he loved things with engines, fast engines! He was an official judge for ISCA (International Show Car Assoc.) for over 20 years. He was one of the founding members of Corvettes of Lancaster. Years ago, he was very active with the Earth Angel Foundation, a state organization that gave special gifts to children with terminal illnesses. As much as he loved his cars, he loved his family more and loved being with them. Don is survived by his wife, Kathy; his son Woody (Elissa); step-son, Chuck (Erin) Cook and Willie Cook; step-daughter, Lori (Matt) Mathias; grandchildren, Dean (Ashley Edwards), Tyler, Katie, Matilyn, Anna, Wyatt, Mason and Bailey; great-grandson, Noah; brother David and sister Letha A. Fields. He is preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service on Thursday, January 30, from 11:00 – 12:00 noon, followed by the memorial service at 12:00 noon at the Thornville Chapel of the Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service located at 56 S. Main Street, Thornville, Ohio 43076. Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service in Thornville is honored to care for the Mohler Family.
