A Home Going Service, celebrating the life of Donald Russell “Duck” O’Neal, 73, of Newark, will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 383 Washington Street, Newark. Friends may call at the church two hours prior to the funeral service on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, from 1:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Duck was born in Newark, Ohio on March 15, 1945 to the late Eugene and Ruth (Banks) O’Neal. He was called home at Licking Memorial Hospital on August 26, 2018 while surrounded by his loving family. Prior to retirement, he was a construction worker. He enjoyed fishing, reading, roller skating, gardening, cooking, watching NASCAR, sports and westerns. Duck had a great sense of humor, never met a stranger, loved everyone he met, but most important was the time he spent with his loving family and friends. Survivors include his loving children, Valerie O’Neal, Tracee (Carl) Watts, Todd O’Neal, Dawnrica O’Neal, Nadgia O’Neal and Tomitha (Jeremy) Zimmerman; brothers and sister, Vernon O’Neal, Gale O’Neal and Byron O’Neal; 28 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; special family friends, Vanita “Beena” Jones and Eva Dorsey; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jason “Cody” Dickinson; brothers, William “Floyd” O’Neal and Eugene O’Neal; sisters, Sandra O’Neal and Annie Douglas.
