A funeral service celebrating the life of Donna Louise Anderson, age 94, of Denton, Texas, formerly of Buckeye Lake, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 23, at the Lighthouse Memorial Church, 2600 Walnut Road, Millersport, with Pastor Bill Beard officiating. Burial will take place at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Rose Hill Burial Park, Springfield. Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street, Newark. Donna was born February 14, 1922 in Springfield, Ohio to the late John Peter and Alta May (Kidwell) Rexroth. She passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Willow Bend Assisted Living and Memory Care in Denton, Texas.Donna married Virgil Lee Anderson on May 11, 1940 in Greenup, Kentucky. They recently celebrated 76 years of marriage. She was a member of the Lighthouse Memorial Church, Millersport. During World War II, Donna built airplanes at Wright Field, Fairborn, Ohio, where she operated a rivet gun. After the war, Virgil and Donna moved next to the Licking County Children's Home in Newark, where Donna had a meaningful role in the children's lives. She was a tutor and a leader of the Girl and Cub Scout organizations. She also worked at W. T. Grant's and in the toy department of the Arcade Drug Store. Additionally, Donna and Virgil lived in Buckeye Lake, where Donna served the Licking County community as a Red Cross First Aid Instructor and Disaster Control Representative for over 30 years. Donna has resided in Denton, Texas, for the past 11 years. She will be remembered by her husband, Virgil Lee; her son and daughter-in-law, Virgil Dale and Martha (Haynes) Anderson, all of Denton, Texas; two grandsons, Barry Dale Anderson of Circleville and Jeffrey Lee Anderson of Mason, Michigan; a brother, John Richard "Dick" Rexroth of Georgetown; and three great-grandchildren, Ben, Jonah, and Chloe. She also has two step- grandchildren, Gregory D. Epley, Jr. and Jennifer A. Brinson of Denton, Texas; and five step-great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Fianna May DeLong; and a brother, Arthur Leroy Rexroth.Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross, 143 South 30th Street, Newark, OH 43055.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home is honored to care for Donna and her family.
