A Funeral Service, celebrating the life of Doris Edna Cordray, 100, of Newark, formerly of Hebron, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2013, at the Hebron home of The HOSKINSON-Schoedinger Funeral & Cremation Service, with Pastor Jeff Gill as celebrant. Burial will follow at Kirkersville Cemetery.Doris died peacefully Saturday morning, April 20, 2013, in Newark, following a period of declining health. She was born in Glouster, Ohio on April 8, 1913, the daughter of the late William Herman and Angeline Florence (Lyle) Fierbaugh. On June 8, 1933, she married Charles Avery Cordray in Chauncey, Ohio, and they made their home for many years in Hebron, Ohio. Charles preceded her in death on December 6, 1995.Doris loved music, playing the piano and organ, she worked tirelessly as a musician at the Hebron Christian Church, and also accompanied school musical programs for many years.She is survived by her daughter Doris Ann CordraySunkle of Massillon, her grandchildren Ernie (Betty Jo) Cordray, Jean Ann (Ingram) Caulley, Connie (Chuck) Grissom and Joyce (Tim) Blackstone; her 9 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son Dan Avery Cordray, her son-in-law James Sunkle, and her two sisters May and Thelma, and her brother Herman.Friends may call on Sunday afternoon, April 28, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the services at 3:00 p.m. at the Hebron Funeral Home, 108 N. 7th St. in Hebron.An on-line guest register and video tribute to Doris are available at www.hoskinsonfuneral.comThe family prefers that memorials be directed to Hebron Christian Church, 612 W Main St. , Hebron, 43025, The Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio, PO Box 430, Newark, Ohio 43058 or Home Instead Senior Care, 1893 W Columbus Rd., Granville, Ohio 43023, oryour favorite charity.HOSKINSON-Schoedinger Funeral & Cremation Service, are honored to care for the Cordray family.
