Doris Lee Starkey

Doris Lee (Hess) Starkey, age 80, of Newark, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center (operated by Hospice of Central Ohio).

Doris was born May 23, 1939 in Richmond, Indiana. Doris retired from The Big Bear Company.

She is survived by her loving son, Carl S. (Roxane) Starkey, Jr. of Thornville; and two grandchildren Kevin and Amy, whom she loved dearly. She is also survived by her mother, Gladys Ruth (Miller) Hess; sister, Helen Valentine; and brother, Don (Gail) Hess, all of Newark; brother, Jim (Sandy) Hess of Florida; and baby sister, Electa (Dick) Arnett of Newark; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews; along with many special friends and near and dear to Doris’s heart, Alex (Sissie) and Logan.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Carl S. Starkey, Sr.; and by her father, Lee James Hess.

At her request, there will be no service observed.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Altercare Newark North Rehabilitation Center for their wonderful care and compassion shown to Doris over the last several years. Also a very special thanks to Hospice of Central Ohio.
