Dorothy Allen

A funeral service, celebrating the life of Dorothy I. Dottie Phillips Allen, 71, of Etna, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, in the chapel of the Kirkersville home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service, with her son-in-law Tim Bowie as celebrant. Private family burial will occur at a later date in the Kirkersville Cemetery. Dorothy died late Friday, June 9, 2017, following a period of declining health. She was born in Pataskala, on November 27, 1945, the daughter of the late William A. and Opal M. (Harris) Phillips. She was a graduate of Watkins Memorial H.S. class of 1963, and was a loving wife and devoted homemaker. She was truly passionate about her daughters and their families and cherished her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters Tina (Tim) Bowie of Pickerington, Lynn Barr (Brian Butterfield) of Pataskala; grandchildren Taylor, Matthew, Tara, Trevor and Travis; her sister Mary Hewitt and her brother David Phillips; many nieces and nephews, along with brothers and sisters-in-law Anna Mae Williams, Patty (Larry) Williams and Dan (Terre) Allen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Charles Allen and her two sisters June Fries and Betsy James. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, from 5 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home, 285 East Main Street in Kirkersville.
