Dorothy Ballenger

Dorothy L. Ballenger, 91, of Zanesville, died July 20, 2017, following an extended illness. She was born August 3, 1925, in Lancaster, the daughter of Ralph and Annabelle (Yontz) Arnett.She worked as a early childhood teacher and then as a nurse aide. She completed an Associates Degree in early childhood education from Ohio State University. After retirement, she enjoyed reading, camping, cooking, playing card and board games (especially scrabble), and spending time with her family.She is survived by her husband, Martin Sonny Ballenger, whom she married on Aug 17, 1968, her daughters Anna (Kenny) Brown and Catherine Geenter Martin; sisters Phyllis and Nancy; 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Barbara and her brother Ralph; her daughter Cynthia and her sons Chet and Eddy.Friends may call on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. until time of funeral services at 7:00 p.m. at the Thornville home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service, 56 S. Main Street in Thornville. Burial will follow in Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroll Cemetery.
