Dorothy Okla Ward

A funeral service celebrating the life of Dorothy Okla Ward, age 90, of Newark, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 5, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Newark Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, December 4, at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark.Dorothy was born January 17, 1926 in Three Links, Kentucky to the late Jason and Okla (Martin) Cox. She passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Kindred Health and Rehabilitation-Newark.Dorothy had been employed in the catalog department at Sears for 25 years. She was also a homemaker and loved caring for her family and cooking. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Heath.She is survived by her sons, Thomas P. Ward, Jr. (Cathy) and Clyde S. Steve Ward (Darla), all of Heath; grandchildren, Louann (Randy) Ode, Tuesday Campbell, Oliver Neville, Joshua Ward, Jeremy Ward, Justin Ward and Jonathon Ward;14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brothers, Brutus Cox of Three Lakes, Kentucky and Lloyd Cox of Lexington, Kentucky; and many nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas P. Ward, Sr., on October 5, 1985; and by a son, Donald Ray Sparky Ward; three sisters and three brothers.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home is honored to care for Dorothy and her family.
