Dorse "Dode" Winegardner

Dorse H. Dode Winegardner, 80, of Thornville, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Autumn at the Lake in Thornville. He was born on March 5, 1933 in Thornville to the late Herbert L. and Mable Forest (Taylor) Winegardner. Dode served in the US Army and was a member of the AmVets Post 51 in Thornport. He was also a member of the Buckeye Lake V.F.W. and the United Church of Christ in Thornville. Dode retired from the Shelly Company after 42 years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman.He is survived by his loving family: Brother, Carl Winegardner; sisters, Joan Gothard and Sharon (Millard) Chesser; step-daughter, Phyllis Brotherton; as well as many nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cora Belle (Copley) Winegardner; and his two brothers, Paul and Eugene Winegardner.A funeral service, celebrating Dodes life, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2014 in the chapel of the Thornville home of HOSKINSON-Schoedinger Funeral and Cremation Service, 56 S. Main St., with Pastor Bryan Meadows officiating.
