Dr. George C. Alexander II, DVM, 83, of Thornville, passed away on April 29, 2015 at his residence, while surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Rushville, IN on December 9, 1931 to the late Mervin L. and Kathryn (Northam) Alexander.Dr. Alexander graduated in 1959 from The Ohio State University, School of Veterinary Medicine. While at Ohio State, he also received his Bachelors of Animal Science degree and was a member of the gymnastics team. Dr. Alexander was a large animal veterinarian in Shirley, IN for 17 years. He also worked for the Indiana State Board of Animal Health for 15 years, retiring in 1991. After retirement, he became an accomplished leather crafter and saddle maker. He was an avid horseman, traveling all over the United States where he rodeoed and roped. He was a gold card member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and was past president of the Indiana Ropers and Doggers Association. He was a member of the Rushville Elks Lodge for over 40 years.Survivors include two sons, George (JoLynn) Alexander III and Judson (Kathy) Alexander; two daughters, Angela (Ron) Hackney and Marna (Doug) Clippinger; one sister, Jane Stumpf; eight grandchildren, Brock (Becky) Findlay, Patsy Alexander, Brandon Findlay, Roy (Mariann) Alexander, Mallory (Josh) Evans, Ryan (Heather) Alexander, Carrie Clippinger and Kaitlyn Alexander; eight great grandchildren; two nephews and a host of friends.In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Sue Ann (Nienstedt) Alexander in 2013; and one brother-in-law, Charles Stumpf.Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Dr. Alexander to Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund, 101 Pro Rodeo Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80919 or to Foundation For Hospice of Central Ohio, P.O.
