WALTERS, Richard Dalton Walters, D.O., 85, Jan. 16-1930-Oct. 13, 2015. Doc Walters passed away peacefully at his home Tuesday afternoon while napping. He is preceded in death by his wife, Rosalie (Byrd), Daughter and Son-in-Law, Bethany & Tommy Hudgens, Parents Russell & Lois Walters, and beloved aunt Margaret (Bickie) Walters, and other aunts, uncles and cousins.He leaves behind his former wife & mother of his children, Elaine (Dr. Williard) Mitchell, Son Jeffrey (Connie Rohrer) Walters and Daughter Jill Walters Cooper; Step-daughters Lisa Noble and Lori (Zach) Hatcher; Grandchildren Travis (Sara) & Tyler Hudgens, Chloe & Letty Cooper, Rachel & Caitlyn Walters, Madison Hatcher; Great-Granddaughter Devyn Michelle Hudgens and numerous colleagues, patients, family and treasured friends, too many to mention.Doc Walters was born January 16, 1930 in Newark, OH, the only child of Russell & Lois Walters. He loved Buckeye Lake, where he lived on the lake for most of his life. He graduated Hebron High School in 1948, Denison University in 1952 where he was a varsity athlete and member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. Dr. Walters then enlisted in the US Navy, serving in the medical corps over 7 years. In 1960, he graduated from the Kirksville, MO. School of Osteopathic Medicine, and shortly thereafter, began his family practice in Hebron, which was his passion for over 40 years, caring for his patients and their families. He was on staff at Licking Memorial Hospital and Doctors Hospitals in Columbus, a member of numerous professional and civic organizations, including American Legion Hebron Post, Order of the Moose, AMVETS, Shriners and Hebron Masonic Lodge #116, along with Hebron Lions Club. He was the Lakewood High School team physician over 25 years and member of the Harbor Hills Country Club for over 40 years, and life-long member of Hebron New Life United Methodist Church.His family will receive friends on Friday, Oct. 16, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Hebron New Life United Methodist Church, and again on Saturday, Oct. 17, for one hour prior to the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Doc will be buried with full military honors at the Kirkersville Cemetery.The family prefers that memorials be directed to Hebron New Life United Methodist Church, P.O.
