Duane R. Searfos

A visitation celebrating the life of Duane R. Searfos, 72 of Newark, will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service, 179 Granville Street, Newark. Private burial services will be held at Welsh Hills Cemetery, with military honors observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Duane was born in Newark, Ohio on November 8, 1950 to the late Melvin and Dorothy (Burgoon) Searfos. He passed away at Arlington Care Center on April 8, 2023. Duane proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Prior to retirement, he worked at the Newark Air Force Base for 44 years. Duane was an avid Cleveland Browns fan and enjoyed visiting Lake Erie. Most important in his life was the time he spent with his wife, family and friends. Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Karla L. Searfos, whom he married August 24, 1974; sons, Patrick Searfos and Jeremy Searfos; granddaughter, Jaclyn Searfos; sister, Deanna (Tom) Reeb; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Duane to Hospice of Central Ohio or to the Alzheimer’s Association of central Ohio.
