Earl “Shawn” Grooms, 48, my husband, beloved father, husband, son, friend and confidant went to be with our heavenly father on December 21, 2021 at 12:05 p.m. at the young age of 48, after a short illness. Shawn was born in Newark, Ohio on September 18, 1973. Shawn’s caring heart, passion for his interest, sense of humor, love for his children and his wife could be felt by anyone he came in contact with. Shawn could have a conversation with anyone. He loved to learn and said we never stop learning. He was never afraid to share his opinions, pick others’ brains and have a good time. Shawn had a beautiful gift of honesty and being able to share his emotions and if he loved you, he made sure to tell you. Shawn was so kind and loving. Shawn had a passion for the outdoors, so much to the point he became a You Tuber, creating his channel “Bukkit Mouf Outdoors”, where he was known as “Slick”, a nickname he picked up years ago. Watching his YouTube channel, you can feel Shawn’s passion for the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He spent many hours of what little free time he had from work, fishing and making videos about it. Shawn showed his love of kayak fishing on his channel. He felt that when he was on the water, he was with God. Shawn said that when he gets to Heaven, he and Jesus are going to jump in a couple of kayaks and catch bass all day long. Life is about experiences, “# Keep It Bent.” Shawn’s love for the outdoors also encompassed his first love, his motorcycle, Elvira. He spent many hours over the summers riding, another place he felt close to God. Shawn’s love for the outdoors was only surpassed by the love he had for his wife and children. When Shawn would see his kids Madison and Braxton, his face would light up, he was so proud of them, and was honored to be their father. I love Shawn more than I knew it was possible to love another. He called me “Smile and Baby.” Shawn made sure to let me know each and ever day how much he loved me. A person can go their entire lifetime and never find this kind of love and we are fortunate enough for God to have blessed us with it. The beautiful thing is I get to carry this with me forever and know you are with me and watching over me baby. 10.19.13 Best Day Ever!!! Shawn was selfless and put others first. He spent time for many years with his late uncle Scott, whom he was very close to. Shawn’s mother passed when he was 15 and lost his step-father, and Father over the next four years. Scott became Shawn’s father and they had a special bond. Shawn and I first met when my sister, Sara, and his dear friend, his brother Mike introduced us. We loved spending time together doing all the things one another loved. He gave the best surprises, gifts and showed the sincerest love. We loved visiting breweries, finding new places to experience, and Tennessee. Shawn loved spending time with me and his dogs, Oliver and Pollie. They couldn’t wait for him to get home and he couldn’t wait to see them. Shawn is survived by his best friend, his smile, his wife, Chelsea Michelle Grooms; daughter, Madison Aries Grooms; son, Braxton Shawn Grooms; dogs, Oliver and Pollie; in-laws, John and Sheila Miller; sister-in-law, Sara Miller, her boyfriend and dearest friend and brother, Mike Zeigler; grandmother, Mary Grooms; sister, Ebbie Crenshaw; and many other friends and loved ones. Shawn was preceded in death by his mother, Helen (Grooms) Crenshaw; father, Robert Earl Grooms; uncle, Nathan “Scott” Webb; and grandparents. I am so fortunate that I got to spend this life with you baby, being loved by and loving you. There aren’t enough words to express our life and love, my Honeybee. I promise to love you forever, and to never drag my foot across the seat of your bike. Sleep sweet Babydoll! I love you Honeysuckle! I love you too, Honeybee! A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service is honored to care for Shawn and his family.
