A funeral service celebrating the life of Eddie Eugene Gill, age 73, of Heath, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 1, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Pastor Matthew Van Winkle officiating. Burial will take place in Fairmount Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31, at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark.Eddie was born February 19, 1944 in Newark, Ohio to the late James Eugene and Evelyn E. (Leaman) Gill. He passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Licking Memorial Hospital.Eddie was a 1962 graduate of Lakewood High School. He retired from Owens Corning Fiberglas where he had been employed for 35 years in the Maintenance Engineering Department. Eddie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Heath. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed Reds baseball, OSU football and basketball and followed teams in Licking County. Eddie was a well-known local expert in the area of antiques and collectibles and often consulted with families on the value of their items. Presently, he had extensive merchandise in several antique malls in Berlin and Walnut Creek in Amish Country. He and his wife enjoyed annual trips to Madeira Beach and St. Petersburg, Florida and he also enjoyed trips to Disney World with his son and his family.He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Patricia Ann (Priest) Gill, whom he married September 9, 1967; son and daughter-in-law, Nathan and Karen Gill of Newark; grandchildren, Emily and Grant; brother, Jimmy Gill of Newark; brother-in-law, David Priest of Newark; nephew, Eric (Angela) Priest of Missoula, Montana; and great-niece, Katie Priest.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Lee Gill.Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 525 South 30th Street, Heath, OH 43056.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home is honored to care for Eddie and his family.
