A Homegoing Service celebrating the life of Eddie Mae Scott, 87, of Newark, will be held on Monday, November 22, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 383 Washington Street, Newark, with Rev. Dr. Michael A. Noble officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 21st from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service, 179 Granville Street, Newark. Eddie Mae Scott was born in Vincent Alabama September 13, 1934, and went peacefully to be with the Lord on November, 16, 2021. She was a servant for the Lord and devoted her life to the people others ignored. She retired from Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church as an Administrative Assistant helping to oversee housing for the economically disadvantaged seniors and those with mental and physical challenges. She was a pillar in the community and a staunch advocate for children having served as the first African American President of the Newark School Board; volunteer for the local YWCA; Licking County Diversion Program; League of Women Voters; and board member of the National YWCA. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Jesse Scott Sr.; sister, Diane O’Neal; children, Jesse Jr., Kevin, Michelle, Rebecca, Priscilla (Jeff Hammonds) and Moneque (William Lipscomb); 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and close church/community friends who loved her as mom. Eddie Mae was preceded in death by her grandmother, Rebecca Kidd; father, Edgar Harris; mother, Gladys (Mann) Harris; and sister, Hazel White. Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service is honored to care for Eddie Mae and the Scott family.
