Edna Jean Frey

A funeral service celebrating the life of Edna Jean Frey, 66, of Newark, will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, with Celebrant Clifford Mason officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark, two hours prior to the funeral service on Saturday, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Edna was born in Newark, Ohio on October 10, 1958 to the late James “Jim” Willey and Mary Jo Herbert. She passed away on October 15, 2024 at Licking Memorial Hospital. Prior to retirement, Edna was the activity director at Heath Nursing Care Center for many years. She enjoyed shopping, going on lunch dates, visiting yard sales, and cooking. She was known for her lasagna, sheet cake and her homemade jelly. Most important was the time she spent with her loving family and friends, and she especially enjoyed helping others. Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Richard M. Frey, whom she married April 29, 1978; son, Eric M. (Camille Garbrandt) Frey; daughter, Kelly Jean (William “Saad” Bradley) Frey; sister, JoVan (Phil) Painter; brothers, Paul (B.J.) Willey and Andy Willey; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Paul and Theda Herbert.
