Elaine Marie Simonovics

A memorial service celebrating the life of Elaine Marie Simonovics, age 76, of Newark, will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 2, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home. Friends may call from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark.

Elaine was born November 25, 1945 in Elyria, Ohio to the late John and Cora Simonovics. She passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at Licking Memorial Hospital.

Elaine was self-employed in housekeeping and cleaning. She loved her dog, Gypsy, and two cats, Bootsy and Ditto.

She is survived by a daughter, Melody Borghese of Dublin; son, Matthew L. Tomes of Coshocton; granddaughter, Emma Tomes; brother, Jim of Kansas; sister, Donna of Lorain; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rick Friley, whom she married March 21, 2005 and who passed away on July 10, 2015; and by a brother, Elmer; and a sister, Dora.
