A service celebrating the life of Elaine Stevens, age 71, of Thornville and Tarpon Springs, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 25, at the Thornville United Methodist Church, 30 East Columbus Street in Thornville, with Rev. Jeremy Shank officiating. Burial will take place in Old Zion U.B. Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, October 24, at the Thornville home of Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service, 56 South Main Street in Thornville.Elaine was raised in New Lexington, Ohio by the late Charles and Louise (Householder) McGruder. She embarked peacefully to her new life watched over by her loving husband on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Pickering House in Lancaster.As a loving wife, sister, aunt, friend and neighbor, Elaine left a legacy filled with kindness, love, service and support. She will be remembered as the anchor of the H.R. Department at Diamond Power, a faithful and devoted parishioner of Thornville United Methodist Church, a member of the Eastern Star, secretary-for-life of the Edgewater Beach Moon River Property Owners Association, and a friend of all who crossed her path, both two-legged and four.Those left to celebrate her life include her husband of 31 years, John G. Stevens; brother, Jim (Cola) McGruder; sister, Elizabeth (Harold) Shriner; sister-in-law, Dee McGruder of Colorado Springs; many nieces and nephews; and special friends and neighbors in Ohio and Florida.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Don McGruder.In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, contributions in Elaines memory may be made to the Thornville United Methodist Church, P.O.
