Funeral Services, celebrating the life of Eleanor Louise Granny Bowman, 98, of Hebron, will be held Thursday, January 25, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. in the Hebron New Life United Methodist Church with Pastor Brian Harkness as celebrant. Inurnment will follow at a later date in Castleview Memorial Park, New Castle, Pennsylvania. Eleanor passed peacefully on Thursday, January 18, 2018, with her family at her side. She was born August 30, 1919 in New Castle, PA., the daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Roth) Wester. She worked with her husband for many years in the Bowman Motor Freight Company, and at the age of 38, started college at the Ohio State University, eventually earning a Masters degree in education. She taught school in the Lakewood Local School System, retiring in 1986. She enjoyed a great number of activities including contract bridge, word finds, crossword puzzles, and card games. She was a golfer, and avid sports fan, loving the Cincinnati Reds and Ohio State Buckeyes. She was an active member of Hebron New Life United Methodist Church. She is survived by her loving family: children Joseph Bowman III (Jacqueline), Susan (Donald) Kundrat; grandchildren Joseph Bowman IV, Jon (Pam) Bowman, Amy (John) Needham; great grandchildren Joseph Bowman V (Caitlin Coon), Jac Bowman, Gwendolyn Bowman (Nate Carpenter), Quincy Bowman (Nate Conway), Madelyn, Elizabeth and Evan Bowman, Grace and Katherine Needham; and her two great-great grandchildren Joseph Bowman VI and Eleanor Rose Bowman. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, January 24, 2018 at the Kirkersville home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service, 285 E Main St. in Kirkersville, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Bowman II in 1989, an infant son and her two sisters and one brother. Memorial contributions in her memory may be directed to Hebron New Life United Methodist Church building fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
