Ellen Marie Small

Funeral services, celebrating the life of Ellen Marie Small, 69, of Newark, will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, July 3, 2017, in the chapel of The HEBRON home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service. Burial will follow in Lutheran Cemetery on Linnville Pike. Ellen passed away peacefully on Friday morning, June 30, 2017, in Newark. She was born March 27, 1948, in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of the late George W. and Olive (Bolton) Underwood. A lifelong homemaker, Ellen was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed watching game shows on TV and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved shopping for purses and her animals, especially her cat Baby, and her dogs Daisy, Diesel and Kinsey. She is survived by her loving family: husband Dennis, whom she married on May 23, 1969, her children Brenda Lynn (John Cox) Small, David Small, Melinda (David Moran) Lester, Edward (Barbara Cottrell) Small and Theodore (Paula) Small; her half-brother Charles Underwood; her 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Pansy Thiel and son-in-law James Philip Lester. The family will receive friends on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home, 108 N. 7th Street in Hebron.
