Ellen Jean Winters

Ellen Jean Winters passed from this life on September 24, 2023, at 85 years of age. Ellen was born on October 10,1937 in Coshocton, OH to Martin Arthur Holmes & Fern (Wilden) Holmes. She and Lester Arthur Winters, Sr. were joined in holy matrimony at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Newark, OH on September 4, 1955, and were married for 58 years. Ellen had many things that she loved to do in her spare time. A few of her favorite things included traveling (she especially loved cruises), spending time with her family. She loved to wear hats to church on Sunday’s and collecting solar bobble heads to decorate her home. She was an avid bingo player; a fan of Elvis, and a member of the Newark Eagles for over 60 years and a “snowbird”, traveling to Florida every winter for 40 years. Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Martin & Fern Holmes, her husband, Lester Arthur Winters, Sr., Two brothers – Donald Holmes & Larry Holmes. She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Maurice ”Ace“ (Linda) Winters, Lester A. (Michelle) Winters, Jr. Brother Norman Holmes, and sister Janis Keiffer. Grandchildren Bobby (Haley) Winters, Angela (Matt) Dehmann, Candice (Aaron) Winters, Leslie (David) Winters-Rumsey, Parker Winters (Katie). Great Grandchildren Arielle (John), Taylor (Jesse), Devin, Breana, Brook, Caden, Brennen. Great Great Grandchildren Dimitrius, Teegan, Brynlee, Kairi. Many nieces & nephews, and numerous friends and special cousin Judy Fortune. Ellen will be remembered for her kindness, generosity and willingness to help others. Per Ellen’s request No Flowers. Calling Hours: Monday, October. 2, 2023 at 101 S. 5th Street Newark, Ohio from 2pm to 4pm with funeral and grave side service to follow. Dinner for family and friends after service.
