A funeral service celebrating the life of Ellis Hall, 85, of Thornville, will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Thornville chapel of Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service with Pastor Jonathan Barker officiating. Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery on Linnville Road, Newark, with military honors being observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, 56 S. Main Street, Thornville, on Thursday, March 8, 2018 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and also on Friday, one hour prior to the funeral service, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Ellis was born in Dry Creek, Kentucky on January 25, 1933 to the late Seland and Cora (Hall) Hall. He passed away at St. Anns Hospital in Westerville on March 3, 2018. Ellis proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Prior to retirement, he worked for Kaiser Aluminum for over 30 years. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, playing the banjo, bowling and taking care of his cattle at the farm. He was also an avid Kentucky Wildcat and Ohio State Buckeye basketball and football fan. He is survived by his loving family; children, Anna (David) Cox, Ellis Lee Hall and Geoffrey (Ginger) Hall; grandchildren, Amy Thieken, Amanda (Ryan) Lackey, Geoffrey (Ashley) Hall, Gregory (Stephanie) Hall, Garth (Ashley Hoover) Hall, Autumn Hall, and Jordan Hall; great grandchildren, Reese Thieken, Luke Thieken, McKenna Dodson, Alec Lackey, Greyson Lackey, Noelle Hall, Kenadee Hall, Bailee Hall, Keairah Hall and Jordan Lee Hall, Jr.; sister, Alberta (Paul) Triplett; brother, Orville (Loraine) Hall; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria (Loughman) Hall; grandson, Josiah Lewis Hall; brothers, Frank, Jessie, Joe, Ben, William and Eli Hall; and sisters, Emma Hall and Anna South. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Ellis to Foundation For Hospice of Central Ohio or to the American Diabetes Association.
