Elma Hattie Barcus, 92, of Buckeye Lake, OH, passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Autumn Healthcare Center, Newark. She was born on September 3, 1920 to the late Ernest Louis and Hazel Marie (Mann) Thompson in Berne, OH. Elma worked at Timken Roller Bearings and retired as a licensed practical nurse in 1984. Elma loved cooking, family, and her pet cats.She is survived by one son, Edmund (Rita) Byers, one step-daughter Kris (Jim) Herder, 7 grandchildren, 1 step-grandchild, 7 great-grandchildren, 2 step great-grandchildren, a brother in law Si Seligman, a sister in law Geneva Thompson, and several nieces and nephews.A Methodist by faith, Elma was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Howard Thompson, three sisters Dorothy (Kyle) McElfresh, Evelyn (Clark) Mays, Delores Seligman, husband, Fred Barcus, and two sons James and Billy Joe Byers.Friends may call from 12-2 p.m. on Thursday, November 1, 2012, at HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service, 285 East Main Street in Kirkersville.
