A memorial visitation, celebrating the life of Elsie Dyer, age 90, of Thornville, will be held on Friday, December 15, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Hebron home of Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service, 108 N. 7th Street, Hebron. Elsie was born in Rhodes, England on December 3, 1927 to the late James Henry and Sarah Ellen (Groom) Blincoe. She passed away at Mt. Carmel East on December 9, 2017. Elsie was a devoted homemaker to her family, and was a caring and terrific Air Force wife, living at Air Force bases in Europe, Puerto Rico and the United States, from 1951 to 1969. She was dedicated to the Girl Scouts, where she served as a leader in Germany, California and Ohio for over 30 years, and was also a director of day camps in Ohio. Elsie and her husband also owned and operated Williams Restaurant in Hebron for 10 years. She enjoyed working in the yard, bird watching, knitting, sewing, quilting, listening to music and going to the theatre. Survivors include her loving husband of 66 years, Eugene E. Dyer, whom she married April 21, 1951; son, Leigh (Judith) Dyer; daughters, Louise (James) OBryan and Melissa (Ken) Johnson; sisters, Marjorie Harris and Audrey (Derek) Faulkner; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Blincoe.
