Elsie Weaver

A funeral service, celebrating the life of Elsie V. Weaver, 95, of Pataskala will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 2, 2012 in the Kirkersville Chapel of Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service, with Jonathan Priest as celebrant. Burial will follow at the Sunset Cemetery in Galloway, Ohio. Elsie passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 29, 2012. She was born in Columbus, Ohio - Franklin County on February 3, 1917, the daughter of the late William and Maud Ireland. She was a graduate of the Ohio State University School and of The Ohio State University where she majored in Art and minored in English. She led students on tours of Europe, served in the Womens Army Corps, and was a retired teacher as well as former journalist for the Columbus Record, a weekly publication.Elsie is survived by her sister-in-law Iva Passen, step children, nieces, nephews, extended family, and her longtime friend and fellow journalist Kathy Devaney.She was preceded in death by her first husband Merle Weaver, her son Craig Weaver and her second husband Walter Weaver. Her family will receive friends on Thursday, August 2, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home, 285 E Main St., in Kirkersville.
