Emma Jane Bowen

A funeral service celebrating the life of Emma Jane Bowen, age 90, of Glenford, will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 13, at the Kirkersville home of Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service with Pastor Tim Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home, 285 East Main Street in Kirkersville. Emma was born December 11, 1926 in Zanesville, Ohio to the late Alonzo and Eva (Pierce) Bruce. She passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Emma was a homemaker and a wonderful wife and mother. She enjoyed shopping, especially at Walmart, and playing scratch off lottery tickets. She will be greatly missed by her ten children, Raymond Writesel of Henderson, NC, Bill (Connie) Writesel of Thornville, Eva Petrey of Hebron, Emma Jane Janie (Leo) Dinardo of Columbus, Fred (Nancy) Bowen of Glenford, Martha (Danny) Price of Columbus, Mary (Mike) Dunkle of Pataskala, Linda Crawford (Ray Gamez) of Buckeye Lake, Susie Dunkle and Charlie Bowen, both of Newark; 38 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and her little dog, Angel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Clarence Duke Writesel and Fred Bowen; brother and sister-in-law, Chuck (Betty) Bruce; daughters-in-law, Becky Writesel, Mary Ann Writesel and Tina Giffen; and son-in-law, Gene Petrey.
