Emma M. Sherrick

A graveside funeral service for Emma M. Sherrick, age 96, of Newark, will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral home on Thursday, September 8, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., prior to the graveside service.Emma was born in Centerburg, Ohio on May 16, 1920 to the late Bryant S. Gantt and Ethel V. (Hobbs) Wilson. She passed away on September 4, 2016 at Newark Hills Health and Rehab Center.Emma was a bookkeeper for the YMCA in Fostoria and retired from the YMCA in Newark. She was a member of the Women of the Moose for over 60 years; Ancient Order of Druids Auxiliary for over 50 years; Eastern Star #305; Rose Shrine #8; and former member of Newark Eagles Auxiliary. She enjoyed crafting, word search puzzles and eating at TJs with her close friend, Sherry Fisher.Survivors include her sister, Virginia G. Smoke; grandson, David A. (Stacy Hottinger) Sherrick; great grandchildren, Jed and Jud Sherrick and Ashley Hottinger; niece and nephew, Victoria and Chris Smoke; and special friends, Don and Sherry Fisher and Marge Payne.In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one son, Thomas L.
